I guess I am doing something I am not supposed to do. I have seen a few other small business owners blog about their highlights of 2017, so I was motivated to reflect on mine. And I was actually surprised. I reflected on this past year and then felt compelled to share – because it was a pretty good year. So I will do this David Letterman style, and count down to my best highlight. 2017 was a major mental shift for me. I started running my business like a business, so most of my highlights are business related.

I love, love, love servicing women and making them feel beautiful for special events, especially weddings. This woman right here was not only a total dream to work with, but she is beautiful from the inside out. She was direct, honest, funny, and knew exactly what she wanted. And the day of her wedding, I was blown away that her whole squad was just as laid back, funny, and beautiful as her. My number five goes to Andrea, and if you want to read more about her wedding, you can check it out here.

In the end of 2016 I realized I had a gift to share and I was keeping it all to myself. I started making it a point to being more social on social media. I hit it off with Kinsey Roberts, and she asked me to be interviewed on her Podcast, She Creates Business. I was so nervous, but in March, my episode went live. So my number 4 goes to being on my first podcast interview. If you’d like to know the behind the scenes, you can check it out here.

I don’t know if you picked up on it, but I said the interview with Kinsey was my first experience on a podcast. So, yep. My number 3 goes to my second podcast interview. Being on 1 podcast, and adding being social on social media, I was asked to be on Journeys of Business with Jess Creatives. That was a fun interview, and you can read all about it here. But an even better outcome was that we have started a friendship and have collaborated on on other projects since then. Stay tuned to see what’s next for the Kari + Jess combo.

I didn’t even know this until I sat down to write this blog. But 2017 is my highest revenue generating year! I am so excited for that because that means that what I am learning I have implemented, and is helping me be successful. Also, as a small business, Kari Roberts | Makeup Artist is becoming more self sufficient.

I do not believe any of my other highlights would have even happened if I had not had a brand strategist, Ginny Krauss, and digital designer, Pat Fancy Girl. They have taught me so much and I am forever grateful. To put it all in 1 big nutshell, my re-brand was my highest highlight, my #1 for 2017. I have curated a beautiful Instagram feed, I work from this beautiful website, and I have an awesome client experience thanks to my re-brand.
I know where I have been for 2017 and I am so excited for 2018. Hang in there with me so you can help me make 2018 another fabulous year!
