I have fallen in love with a new lip product. I first tried them out at the makeup show, and then I picked up some more this week at a Makeup Mixer, held at the Glamatory.
The Glamatory is a makeup boutique, in Atlanta, where you can receive makeup and lash extension services, as well as, purchase makeup and makeup supplies. (I love the name. It’s like a Glam laboratory 😉 )It is owned and operated by Mimi Johnson. This past year, I believe, she create The Glamatory brand of liquid lipsticks, she calls lip potions, and false strip lashes. The lip potions come in 10 different shades, and retail for $16. You can get them online, or at The Glamatory store, in the Vinings.
I really like the packaging. It is in a lipgloss-style container, with glass so you can see your potion color. The glass makes it durable. And the white screw-top makes it look very chic, especially with the bold colors.
Much like other lip products, this can fit nicely in a pants pocket or small clutch. It’s not the smallest, but that’s ok, because you get a decent amount of product.
I really like that sponge tip applicator. It is similar to lipgloss applicators but it is more flat. I think this makes it easy to “line” your lips with the product when applying, so you don’t have a mess on your face. The tip is pointed enough for precision application, but applicator is wide enough to fill in your entire lips.
What you see is what you get. It is VERY pigmented. A little goes along way. I use the tip to apply it around the border of my lips (so it is precise) and then I flip over the applicator and fill in my lips. For extra umph I might dip it in the container and apply once more in the center of my lips, but that is only if I anticipate doing a lot of eating or talking. Otherwise, one pass is fine. Be sure to have good makeup remover to remove the product at the end of the night because you will need it!! There have been times that after a shower and makeup remover, I can still see hints of pigment on my lips.
This product will last 10-12 hours….for real!!!
One last thought….many liquid lipsticks are very drying on the skin. There have been other brands I’ve tried and they look beautiful, but my husband doesn’t want me to kiss him because my lips feel so harsh and dry. There are others that make my lips feel cracked after wearing multiple days in a row. This however feels so moisturizing. I don’t know how Mimi created a formula that is matte, long-lasting, and not quite so drying – but she did – and me (and my husband) are so thankful for that. I have enjoyed my experience supporting a local “girlboss” who is in the makeup industry. As she comes out with more colors I will probably be getting more. 😉
Overall: 4.8 = A
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone that wants quality, long-lasting, not drying, matte liquid lipstick.
