I have really enjoyed the new foundation that I got from Sephora as part of my anniversary gift money. I have never tried Clinique before and I was excited to try something new. I bought Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. It retails for $27, is sold on Clinique’s website, and where ever else Clinique is sold. This is an interesting concept of foundation combined with concealer and really speaks to me because 1) I don’t wear makeup everyday and 2) when I do I prefer something quick, easy, and efficient. This product is a natural-matte finish with buildable medium to full coverage.
Packaging: 4/5
Well it’s a typical 1 oz. glass foundation container. I think companies make it glass to make you feel like you are really investing in something (especially for some foundations that are $40 and $50+). This is solid and durable. This is great for me since I drop EVERYTHING! LOL. Nothing special about it, but it leaves nothing to be desired either.
Portability: 3.5/5
I personally would not want to travel with this, but I wouldn’t want to travel with most of my full size liquid foundations for this reason. Since it is glass it is heavy, and it also takes up a lot of space in a makeup bag. On the other hand, if you have the room in your travel bag, it is made of very durable material. (But if I was traveling I would – and have – put some liquid foundation in the travel containers. Saves a ton of space and weight).
Application: 5/5
This product has a “magic wand” that comes with it. It has a pointed tip for spot concealing and a broader side for the rest of your face. I love that they say you can get a full face of coverage with 1 dip. So far that’s true but if you want to get full coverage you will need 2, plus additional spot coverage in areas where you need it. I like that they promote blending with clean finger tips. That makes it a very low maintenance product. So if you don’t have a bunch of brushes or blenders, just use your hands. 🙂 I on the other hand do have brushes and blenders and I prefer to rub in with my flat top kabuki brush or beauty blender.
Pigmentation: 5/5
I use the shade amber, it’s a great, warm/golden match for me. I think it will look really good in the winter months. I get some red undertones when I tan so I don’t know how this shade will do in the summer. But I love this formula. You can build up to full coverage and it still looks natural, no shine, and doesn’t feel “weighty” on your skin. You do have to set with powder to minimize it rubbing on clothing. This formula is pretty pigmented, as well. I have used it for just concealer, set it with powder and walked out the door. 1 coat gives you decent coverage.
Longevity: 4.5/5
This is definitely a 8 hr-wear foundation. It looks great all day, and doesn’t start to fade until the work day is over. Since it is so buildable you can add where you need to if you still need your face to look fresh and flawless.
Overall: 4.4/5 = B+
I really enjoy this product. It has made its way in my regular rotation for work day makeup as well as evening events, too. I think it is a great buy for the price and I enjoy how the website gives you little demos and videos to show you how to get the best result with this product.
I totally agree with your review! I love it too!
Yes, it was a great choice.
