When I was at The Glamatory a few weeks back, I splurged and bought the Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed, or what I call, highlight. :-). I bought mine in Rose Gold, because I have a couple of other highlights in traditional golden. This retails for $38 and can be purchased where ever Becca Cosmetics are sold.
I love the packaging of this product. Let’s be honest, this product is not cheap, but when you have it in your hand, you feel something of substance. I like the steel-like look of the compact cover, and I really like that when it is closed it is very secure. I have dropped it several times since I got it, because that’s just me, and it has remained intact. I also like the little film cover that says “becca”. I like it so much, it is still in my compact.
This product is very easy to travel with. Because it is housed in such a durable compact, you can be comfortable to throw it in your makeup bag when you go out-of-town. The only reason I didn’t give it 5/5, is because it is slightly bulky. But I think that’s a fair trade-off for the security of the product.
This product is easily applied to your cheekbones, forehead, tip of nose, (anywhere you want to highlight) with a variety of brushes. I have tried it with a rounded blush brush, angled blush brush, and fan highlighter brush. It works great with any tool! Just use what you have, no need to buy something special.
The color is true from the compact to your skin. The website says “perfect for intense highlighting and layering” …. and I have to agree. You get what you pay for and a little bit goes a long way.
I have to say, I have noticed this product does last all day (9+ hours). But I have not tested it alone – because who wears just highlight without any other face makeup on? So I didn’t give it a 5/5 because when worn I wear it with foundation, primer and setting spray or powder. Anyways, when the day is over it is still on my face.
Overall: 4.8/5 = A
I am very happy with my splurge and I feel like I am getting my money’s worth. I love the way it looks on the tip of my nose ;-). I also like how easy it applies, and of course, the durable packaging. If you feel like going on a splurge for highlighting, give this one some consideration. (Disclaimer: Bought with my own money. I am not getting ANYTHING to make this review.)
Here’s a picture of it on me.
