As you all know, I’m a huge Urban Decay fan, so when I was in Sephora a few weeks ago, I was super excited to get a sample of the new Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss sample in Lovechild. I decided this would be the perfect thing to review on my blog. You can get this anywhere that Urban Decay is sold, for $20.
I don’t like the glossy, gold look of the packaging. I think it takes away from the “naked” brand – since golds and metallics are far from neutral. I also think this container is a little on the large side for the amount of product that you are getting. I did go ahead and give it a 3/5 because I do like how it shows the shade of lipgloss on the bottom. If you have more than one, this comes in pretty handy.
I think that this container is too large – I mean it’s just lip gloss. It doesn’t have to be this tall. When you look at it, you think it is a “king-sized” gloss, but no it’s just a lot of extra material to look grand. I like smaller glosses, like Smashbox and M-A-C, so that if I’m on the go I can slide it in my pocket without worrying about it. This won’t stay in anyone’s pocket, it will have to go in a purse, or makeup bag.
I think the application for this is very good. I do like a lip gloss sponge when applying glosses that don’t have much glitter to them. I do think this product would go nicely with a lip gloss brush if they wanted.
I was so disappointed! I rave about UD because of all of the products with highly pigmented quality. I think that my lips would not have looked much different if I had applied vaseline. They are also marketing this product like a black dress. All 9 colors could suit a variety of skin tones and styles. I think that is far from the case. I wear many pinks and neutral glosses and this one did not do it for me.
The dull look, from the lack of pigmentation, did last a good while but I did not like the product on my lips. It felt very pasty and had a terrible smell! I hate to say this, because I LOVE free stuff, but I didn’t even keep the sample. I ended up wiping it off after a meeting and putting it in the trash.
