Often time people think of wide-eyed, 20-something aged women when they think of brides. But many women come to me in their 30’s or 40’s in need of makeup for their wedding, or a wedding that they are attending. They have the same concerns as other women. How to enhance their natural beauty and feel flawless on their wedding day. Here I will share behind the scenes of a client with mature bridal makeup and hair.
Mature Bridal Makeup
This client was having a small simple wedding and really wanted a simple polished makeup look to go with it. She chose to have a trial run, and like most brides, I’m so glad she did. She initially wanted a smokey eye, with plum and purple colors. And she wanted a pop of color on her lips and cheeks. At no surprise, she wanted to make sure the dark circles under her eyes were brightened up. So, I went to work, gave her what she asked for. But after looking in the mirror, she did not feel comfortable. Her fiance’ even saw her look and he commended that she looked beautiful. But it was so obvious that she didn’t feel comfortable with that look. So we went back to basics. We stepped her smokey eye down to a cleaner look and we gave her back her neutral brown lipstick that she prefers to wear daily. When she saw that looking back at her in the mirror she was grinning from ear to ear. She was so happy. We had nailed the look!
Mature Bridal Makeup – The hair
For her hair she wanted a low, messy bun. She wanted lots of curls with a swoop going to one side. What I loved most about this look was she had personal touches to add to the style. She had crystal hair pins to add to the bun and fresh baby’s breath to add to the side. It was the perfect delicate touch to add to her simple, elegant wedding.
To finish off her party I had the honor of enhancing her mother’s beauty. She wanted a very soft look. Basically, to even her complexion and to have a nude lipstick. The bride’s daughter was just beautiful. She is a teenager and wanted a sparkling eye look. That was fun because we created that with loose gold pigments and topped off her age-appropriate look with a shimmery lipgloss.
