Last month my first cousin got married. This was a big deal for many reasons, one of which because it was the first wedding on that side of the family since my wedding. Almost 12 years ago! I love doing makeup for friends and family, it is such a treat! But that adds a whole extra layer of stress to it as well. I need to make sure they look good, but then I want to look good and be on time for the event too! Because of that extra stress, I was secretly happy that my cousin’s friend gifted her with a makeup artist who specialized in makeup for black women for her wedding day.
Who I Worked With
Well it didn’t take much time for my mom to ask me to do her makeup. Pretty much as soon as we got the wedding date, she asked me and of course I said “yes!” Then a few months later my sister asked me if I could do her makeup and I said “sure!” I was really excited about the because last time I did my sister’s makeup I was just start and I did a terrible job! LOL. Then a few months before the wedding my brother asked me if I was able to do his girlfriend’s makeup. I gladly, and humbly said yes. That was a real treat. She was meeting all of us for the first time, and was trusting me to do her makeup and we never had met. Needless to say, I still had all the nerves and all the feels on the wedding day. I do think everyone turned out looking quite nice!
