What’s up at the pump?
No, I’m not talking about the gas station, I’m talking about your mascara. We’ve all been there…your favorite mascara is running low, or worse, running thick, so you pump the wand in the canister. Over and over and over again. I have been asked how many times should I pump my mascara? Well, the real question is, should you be pumping it at all?
Nope! You sure shouldn’t. Here are a couple of reasons why.
Your mascara is a liquid product. It also stays sealed most of the time. When you pump your wand you are pumping unnecessary air into a system that does best with little air in it. The more air you expose to your mascara, the quicker it can dry out, and sooner it will need to be replaced.
Bacteria like to live in moist, dark, and warm areas. Mascara has 2 outta 3 (moist and dark). Pumping the wand does add air, and potentially germs to your mascara. Let’s minimize the risk of eye irritation by not pumping the wand.
What to do?
So what do you do when you want to maximize your product on the spoolie? Dip the wand in the canister ONE TIME, then twist it to scrap on the sides.
Hope that helps 🙂
