So I’m talking about Regina’s wedding …. again. For those of you who have heard about it, I’m sorry, I just can’t get enough of it. For those of you that want more details… you have come to the right place. 🙂
Regina and my mom have been close friends since right around when I went away to college. I am cut from the same clothe as my mom. I was her right have woman and when I went away to college I did worry that she would have no one to hang out with. (I know, that was faulty thinking, but I was only 17). Regina moving into our congregation with her 2 boys, about the same age as my younger brother. Regina and the boys quickly became an extension of the family and when I came to home to see Mom and Dad, I always saw Regina. She did take the time to forge an individual friendship with me. And that was very special, especially as I was transitioning from a girl to a woman. Fast forward…. I was living in Atlanta when I got married and Regina came in, from out-of-state, to be a guest, friend, and super big help. I can’t thank her enough for what she did for my shower and wedding.
Fast forward some more….. now was her turn to get married, to a great guy. My parents can’t say enough good things about Stan. And he makes her so happy. It was such an honor to do her makeup. It was just a small way to pay her back for all the things she has done for me and my family. And the cool thing was my mom was the Matron of Honor. So I got to officially do her makeup for the first time. That was very exciting for both of us!
The tricky thing was it was my business to not only do the makeup, but also be present, and on time, for her wedding. I got these lovely faces done. I had 1 hour to drive back to where I was staying, take a quick shower, do my makeup, try to do my hair, and get to the Kingdom Hall to be at the wedding. I made it! Barely. My hair suffered, and my husband missed the procession because he was parking the car (so glad for his sacrifice). But I was so happy to be there – and be a part.
Here are the before and afters…. (I forgot to get Regina’s after)
Here are some fun snapshots with mom, dad and my husband. I also reconnected with a friend I haven’t seen in years. And guess what…she’s a makeup artist too!!
