While I was apart of a Matermind/Business Coaching class (The Wedding Business Academy) one of the main things I wanted to get out of it was to properly relaunch my website, and really define my brand. I learned the importance of branding and decided I was going to do a full relaunch. This would have to come with an updated head shot. One of my coaches, Ginny Krauss helped me see that I needed branding images, not just of me, but of my tools that I use to run my business. That includes my makeup, brushes, makeup kit, computer and phone, to name a few. I decided to go on the hunt to find a brand photographer.
Finding a Branding Photographer
In the Fall of 2016 I found Laura Watson. I had reached out several photographers and they either didn’t get the concept of true branding, or didn’t have it in them to follow up with me. Laura doesn’t know it but I was 50% really hoping she would work with me the way I wanted and 50% hoping she would be my ideal partner in this process.
She Blew Me Away
I accidentally called her (lol, I was on my phone and clicked the phone button while sliding my phone into my pocket). She took the call and immediately sounded interested. We made an appointment to follow up and I as so impressed with her 1) keeping her word and calling me, 2) really diving deep with this whole branding thing and 3) her EXCITEMENT! After that call I was so excited. I was thinking this is the girl. She’s my photographer.
Mood Board Call
She scheduled a time to have a video chat so we could really get a knack for how we worked, make sure the expectations were clear and to really drop some more knowledge on me with this whole branding thing. She gave me advise on what to bring to the shoot, what to wear, and her recommendations for location. I was in 100% agreement with her. Shoot, I had no idea! And she was clearly the expert.
I went to her neck of the woods, about 80 miles from me. (Metro Atlanta is a big place. We both live in the Atlanta area, but obviously not right around the corner). I was so excited! What would she ask me to do? What would she capture? How would we get these branding photos for my new brand and website. I think my excitement comes through in all of these images. And her excitement was just as strong. She texted me some sneak peaks before I even made it home. And she gave me my images in just a couple of days. I was able to get them to my graphic designer and she used the images as inspiration to create this lovely site.
Laura, thank you so much for taking my accidental call that day. Thank you for your knowledge and infectious positive energy for the shoot. And also thank you for helping me launch my re-brand. I could not have done it without you!
