Something very exciting happened a few weeks ago. On a Friday night, 2/22/13, around 11:30pm, I received a request to do smokey eyes for a party of 8 the very next day at 5pm. I happened to be on the computer doing some paperwork for another project when I got the message. I was very excited (because I was in fact available for this time) and I little skeptical (really – makeup for tomorrow?) After several emails back and forth, the client and I were able to work out time, location, and all the other details.
I quoted her a price to do the 8 women with mini face applications (this includes: eyes, lips, cheek). She was specific in the expectation of focusing on the eyes and applying falsies, to those who wanted it, but it would be done in 1 hour and 15 minutes!!! I was nervous, but very confident that if I did eyes only I could get the job done. She was hoping as many as possible would get their eyes done, but wouldn’t be heart-broken if they all didn’t. Just so happens a good friend of mine the day before offered to help in any way she could if I ever needed. So, that Saturday afternoon, I reached out to her and asked if she could hang out with me and keep my station and brushes clean while I did the makeup. She was game, and I was all ready.
We got there to make a fun-spirited group of ladies. Everyone was enjoying themselves, and I was able to “paint” these faces as quickly as I could. Applying the falsies and flares took a little more time than I anticipated, but I did not want to leave anyone out. The client became relaxed with the end time, so 2 hours later, 8 faces (3 with strip lashes and 5 with flare lashes, 6 with lips, and 5 with blush) were done. The client was happy, her guests were happy… EVERYONE WAS HAPPY!
I am so glad I got this opportunity to test my limits as well as my skills. And I’m so very happy I had enough sense to ask for help. Everything was moving so fast that we didn’t get a lot of pictures. But here are some of them….
