We are coming out of a gloomy time of year. And I don’t know about you, but I know I can fall off a little bit with my personal routines. The days were shorter and I wanted to stay in bed a little longer and skimp on beauty stuff. Just shower and head out the door. Don’t be that girl anymore – your facial skin still needs a little extra attention. And when you are in your 40s and people think you are in your 30s, you’ll be glad you did.
Your skin on you face is exposed to the most harm in the environment than anywhere else on your body, so it needs that extra TLC. Don’t worry, I’ll give you 3 easy steps to work into your daily routine, that will help your skin look bright and radiant and the days are bright and longer.
- Wash your face morning and evening. This step can easily be done when in the shower. Lather up your favorite cleanser on your face for 30-60 seconds. You can use a wash cloth, clean hands, or cleansing tool if you have one. Make sure you get your neck and collarbone area (that’s called your décolleté).
- Use a serum. Serums are marketed for mature skin for anti aging, but they do so much more. They help even skin tone (this is really helpful if you have hyperpigmentation), they help with blemish control, they help lock in moisture (for those with dry skin) and help combat oil (for those with oily skin). They also help minimize wrinkles and prevent new wrinkles, and they smooth the surface of the skin. This should be applied after cleansing skin in the morning. You can also apply after cleansing skin in the evening, but that step is optional.
- Moisturize your skin. You’ve cleansed and prepped it, now time to lock it in with a moisturizer. These come in different formulas depending on your need – dry skin, oily skin or combination. Many women with oily skin skip this step because they have oily skin, however, that is the wrong thing to do. Getting the right moisturizer for oily skin will actually make your skin produce LESS oil, that’s what you want, right?
So there you have it. 3 simple steps to maintain radiant, bright skin throughout the spring and into the summer.
